SESCO Celebrates Houston Terminal Expansion with Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
October 20, 2026
SESCO Cement celebrated the official commissioning of its Houston terminal expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 14, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company's continued investment in infrastructure, operational capacity, and regional supply chain connectivity. The expansion introduces eight new concrete storage silos and a dedicated rail loading terminal, strengthening the facility's ability to support construction and infrastructure development across Texas and beyond.
The expansion introduces the new concrete silos to the Houston terminal's bulk storage infrastructure. Together with the facility's five existing storage domes, the terminal now offers a total bulk storage capacity of 250,000 tons. The facility also features a ship unloader capable of handling 1,500 metric tons per hour and two fully automated packing lines, each capable of processing 1,800 bags per hour. These capabilities support the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of cementitious materials in both bulk and bagged form.
“What started off as an ambitious vision has grown into one of the largest integrated cement terminals in the world,” said Aly El-Etreby, Interim CEO, SESCO Cement. “Investments of this scale don’t happen without great people and strong partnerships.”
The ceremony brought together company leadership, government representatives, industry partners, and members of the SESCO team to recognize the successful completion of the project. Among the distinguished guests and speakers were U.S. Congressman Randy Weber, Gregg T. Reyes, Eric Casey, and Eric M. Carrero, USCG Captain (Ret.), who joined SESCO leadership in commemorating the expansion.
Another central component of the expansion is the newly commissioned rail loading terminal, which features three dedicated rail loading silos separate from the eight new concrete storage silos. The rail loading facility provides 3,000 tons of capacity, with loading rates of 300 tons per hour per lane and a railyard capable of accommodating up to 80 railcars. This new infrastructure establishes direct rail connectivity, strengthening SESCO Cement's distribution network and supporting the efficient movement of materials between maritime operations and inland markets.
The expansion builds upon SESCO Cement's established presence in Houston, where the company operates one of the nation's largest cement terminal facilities. By integrating maritime access, expanded bulk storage, and direct rail transportation, the terminal serves as a strategic distribution hub supporting the growing needs of the construction industry.
Beyond its operational capabilities, the Houston facility maintains a strong focus on workplace safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence. The terminal incorporates continuous particulate matter monitoring for PM1, PM2.5, PM4, and PM10. SESCO Cement also maintains an integrated management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, reinforcing its commitment to quality, environmental management, and occupational health and safety.
The successful completion of the expansion reflects extensive coordination across engineering, construction, logistics, safety, and terminal operations teams. From initial planning and development through equipment installation, testing, and commissioning, the project represents the collective expertise and dedication of the teams involved.
As SESCO Cement continues to strengthen its terminal network and logistics capabilities, the Houston expansion represents another important step in the company's commitment to improving supply chain efficiency, supporting regional economic growth, and delivering reliable construction materials to customers throughout Texas and beyond.
