Striving to Create Value for Our Customers and Company
Our company charted an ambitious course in 2024. We are proud to have accomplished so many of our goals during the year.
1. Project Spotlight: New Port of Tampa Terminal
We began construction on our new Port of Tampa Terminal in Florida. Upon completion, the new terminal is scheduled to feature:
- Six drive-through concrete silos
- A 62,000-square-foot packaging facility.
- 40-spot railcar loading facility.
This terminal will significantly enhance our logistical capabilities, enabling efficient loading of multiple railcars with different products simultaneously. This expansion aims to increase our storage capacity, improve operational efficiency, and optimize our distribution network.
We strategically chose the Port of Tampa because it is the primary location for waterborne activity throughout Central Florida. This terminal will strengthen our ability to serve customers across the region promptly and reliably, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in the cement industry.
2. Expansion News: Entering the Michigan Market
We aren’t just growing our operations in Florida. We’re also heading to the Midwest, where we will expand our reach into the Michigan market.
Michigan is a new state for our company, where we will offer our high-quality bagged cement products to local customers. This strategic expansion will allow us to better serve the Midwest region and meet the growing demand for reliable cement solutions.
3. Operational Improvements: Houston Rail Terminal
Back home in Houston, we made significant advancements at our Houston Rail Terminal, which is a critical component of our supply chain infrastructure.
The improved facility now boasts a 75-spot, 3,000-ton capacity railcar loading facility. This state-of-the-art terminal is capable of loading up to three different products from either of two loading lanes without risk of contamination.
We are confident these enhancements will greatly improve our ability to supply cement to Texas and 10 other states, particularly those in the middle of the country that rely heavily on rail transport.
The rail terminal will allow us to ship to land-locked customers, ensuring they receive our products efficiently and reliably. By increasing our loading capacity and ensuring the purity of our products, we can better meet the growing demand and streamline our distribution processes, ensuring faster and more efficient deliveries to our customers.
4. Improvements to the Dash Customer Portal
One of our top priorities in 2023 was introducing the Dash customer portal to enhance the customer experience and streamline order management. In 2024, we built on the launch by turning your feedback into software improvements.
Dash allows you to easily review invoices, filter transactions, and track orders in real-time. This user-friendly platform simplifies the review process and ensures transparency in how your order is fulfilled. By consolidating all essential information in one place, Dash empowers our customers to manage accounts efficiently and effectively.
5. Community Impact: Back to School Family Expo
The SESCO team participated in El Centro’s Be Healthy Family Expo/Back to School Drive-Thru Event on August 9th at El Centro de Corazon Magnolia Health Center in Houston.
This annual event supported 300+ local families by distributing approximately 1,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to elementary-aged children from local schools in the East End. We are proud of the team for making a community impact!
6. SESCO Cement Job Fair Success
Because our company is rapidly expanding, we are looking for great people to join our team. We recently held the first SESCO Cement Job Fair on October 4th at Hidalgo Park in Houston. This event was a great success, as we had an impressive turnout of candidates eager to start or advance their careers with us.
Many qualified candidates came prepared to meet with our employees. These individuals could be critical pieces of our ongoing expansion plans to bring fresh energy, perspectives, and capabilities during this season of growth!
